All Saints' Day / Grandparents' Day

Thursday, October 31, 2024 @ 11:30 AM

SJB’s All Saints’ Day Parade will take place on the field again this year. Please keep in mind the information below as you plan your day:

·       The south-side rolling gate will open at 11:00am to allow for field parking. For everyone’s safty, the rolling gate will close at 11:25am and will remain closed until 2:30pm. Please do not park on the field if you need to move your car before 2:30pm. Foot traffic may enter and exit campus through the pedestrian gate beginning at 11am.

·       Students will eat lunch with their families/friends on the field or at the benches from 11:30am-12:20pm and will then return to the classroom to prepare for the Parade. The Parade starts at 1pm.

·       Following the Parade, students may be picked up from Mary’s Grotto (morning prayer area). If you park on the field, we ask that you collect your students and return to your cars quickly to minimize traffic delays on the field.

GRANDPARENTS: During the lunch hour, your student will be inviting you to take a tour of their classroom! At their classroom you will see, and may take home, a special Grandparents’ Day project they have made!  After your classroom visit, or while you are waiting for the parade to start, please stop by the Hall for dessert and coffee!

SAINT COSTUME GUIDELINES

1.     Dressing up as a Saint or a specific Angel such as Michael, Gabriel or Raphael is encouraged, but OPTIONAL (unless required by the teacher.)  Students who do not dress up as a saint must come to school in full school uniform that day.

2.     Boys must dress as male saints; girls must dress as female saints.

3.     The costume must be recognized as a Saint’s costume. Students can choose from any of the thousands of canonized or beatified Saints of the Catholic Church.

4.     Students should be able to identify and say something about the Saint they represent.

5.     Simplicity is encouraged. A Saint costume put together from things lying around the house is preferred to one purchased at a store or online.

6.     Costumes should be comfortable for students to wear throughout the day, but jeans and a t-shirt that says “I am St. Mark” does not count as a costume.

7.     Costumes and accessories must be safe (ex: “sword” should be made of cardboard or other soft material and without a point).

8.     “Bloody” costumes are permitted for the martyrs, but please use sensitivity and good judgment as to the amount of blood. The “blood” should be of a substance which dries and does not remain wet.

9.     The administration reserves the right to ask any student inappropriately dressed to change into their school uniform. If necessary, parents may need to come to school with the uniform.

When in doubt about any costume or part of a costume,

ASK AHEAD OF TIME TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENTS ON OCTOBER 31st!
