Family Participation Requirements
Every SJB family is required to contribute time and/or make item donations through the Family Participation Hours (FPH) program in order to help our school keep to its budget and achieve its goals. Every hour, dollar, and donation given directly benefits our children through the school and its programs. Complete guidelines for the FPH Program can be found in the Parent Handbook.
Each family is required to participate in each of the following ways:
Families are required to perform ONE of the following FPH-related duties:
- Complete a minimum of 25 Family Participation Hours (FPH) before May 25th. Only FPH done according to the guidelines outlined in the Parent Handbook will qualify. Families will be charged $30 per hour for any FPH not completed by the deadline.*
- Buyout the FPH requirement by paying $375 (25 hours at $15/hour) to the SJB Auxiliary by September 10th. No partial payments will be accepted at $15/hour. If payment is not made by the deadline, it will be assumed you have opted to complete the 25 FPH through volunteering and donations.
*Please note that FPH and Lunch Duty may only be completed by a family member who is: 18 years of age or older, has been fingerprinted by the Diocese of Orange and has completed Safe Environment Traning online through Safe Haven "It's up to You" Training. Volunteers will be turned away and no credit will be given if these requirements are not fulfilled before the event.
Complete 3 days of assigned Lunch Duty during the school year (this is in addition to the 25 FPH).*
Lunch Duty Shifts are from 11:30 a.m.-1:05 p.m. You may request specific dates by emailing 5 choices to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 15th.
After August 15th, if you have not requested Lunch Duty shifts, you will be randomly assigned three days. If your family cannot fulfill an assigned date, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
There is no buy-out for this requirement and families will be charged $50 per missed Lunch Duty shift. Any Lunch Duty done in excess of the 3 mandatory shifts will be credited toward your family’s FPH, as long as it is not done as a substitute for another family.
*Please note that FPH and Lunch Duty may only be completed by a family member who is: 18 years of age or older, has been fingerprinted by the Diocese of Orange and has completed Safe Environment Traning online through Shield the Vulnerable. Volunteers will be turned away and no credit will be given if these requirements are not fulfilled before the event.
