Catholic Schools Week

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2012 is "Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, Service."  The annual observance starts the last Sunday in January, and runs all week, which in 2012 is January 29 to February 5. We will kick off our celebration of Catholic Schools Week with our annual Open House on Sunday, January 29, at 2:00 P.M. Meet the staff and school administrators, tour the facility, and learn all about one of Southern California’s premiere Catholic K – 8 programs. Throughout the week, there will be special activities for students, faculty and the community at large, to celebrate our Catholic School pride.

This year’s theme focuses on three priorities that Catholic schools emphasize which make them stand out from other educational institutions. Children are taught faith - not just the basics of Christianity - but how to have a relationship with God. Academics, which in Catholic schools are held to very high standards, help each child to reach his or her potential. Service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good citizenship.

We’ll spend the week highlighting the important role of Catholic schools in our children’s lives. As part of our effort to educate the whole child in an atmosphere of faith and academic excellence, Catholic schools instill in students a lifelong commitment to serving others. When our students graduate, they have the tools they need to fulfill their roles as good citizens, productive employees and compassionate leaders.
